Cable vs. DSL
Looking to upgrade your modem with faster speed, broadband can help. Many people have dropped dial up internet services like a hot potato because of very slow speeds and poor service. Today millions of people have changed to broadband internet connections for blazing internet download and upload speeds, here are some tips on choosing a broadband internet service.
There are two main types of broadband internet services, Broadband Cable and Broadband DSL. There are plenty of differences between the two to determine which kind of service is right for you.
When it comes to speed, hands down Cable broadband is much faster then DSL. DSL usually ranges in speed from 256 KB to about 1.5MB. Expect upload times to be significantly slower. Although DSL is much faster than dial up, it is not as fast as cable. DSL however can be a few dollars cheaper than cable modems and deliver a drop better reliability because it depends on the phone lines to transfer data which are usually much more reliable than cable lines.
Cable broadband is the darling of the broadband industry because it delivers very fast speeds usually from 1.5 to 5 MB. This means that you can download much faster, stream audio and video without problems and talk on VOIP much clearer with out breakups. Cable can be a few dollars more expensive, but is usually in the range of $25 to $50 each month. So if you are looking to upgrade from a dial up internet connection to broadband internet connect, choose between DSL and Cable.
